The Heritage and Design
Kiora is one of a pair of houses built in 1904 on adjacent plots by two brothers. The interior is Canadian pine, (which was imported directly via Whitstable harbour), with wooden floors and many original features throughout, retaining a unique period charm and character.
Accommodation Details
Kiora sleeps eight people in three generously sized double bedrooms and one smaller bedroom furnished with twin single beds. The three upstairs bedrooms all look out to sea and across to the Isle of Sheppey. All the bedrooms have original washbasins. The upstairs windows also feature lead-lined gutters on the inside designed to carry the seawater away when spray strikes the front of the house! Fortunately, thanks to much-improved sea defences, this is no longer a common occurrence. Nowadays, you can simply lie in bed and listen to the waves on the beach.

Bathroom Facilities
Next to the downstairs bedroom, to the rear of the house, there is a bathroom with a deep bath, shower and toilet. There is also an adjacent separate toilet with original fittings.
Living Spaces and Kitchen
Entering the house through the glazed porch, the front door opens onto a large hallway. Off the hall to the left is a book-lined dining room and an adjoining traditional kitchen with a wood-burning stove, gas hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washing machine. It is simply furnished with a pine table and chairs, ideal for group meals. To the right of the hall, the living room has an open fireplace, a grand piano and French doors, which open out to the paved terrace and garden.

Outdoor Features and Garden
The terrace has a large seating area with stunning sea views, and the wild, steeply sloping wooded garden features a picturesque original summerhouse. The thick hedge of escallonia and tamarisk along the front of the property provides privacy for the outdoor areas and gives the house a ‘secret garden' feel.
